What social media tools do you use — and for what purpose? My assistant and I were discussing how we personally use Facebook and Twitter. I use Facebook mostly for keeping up with personal friends. I do have a fan page (please go like it if you haven’t already) but my personal page updates are at least 50% about my daughter and my personal life. I use Twitter to talk business and to tweet interesting articles as I find them. If you want to see what I think is cool — follow me on Twitter. I use google reader to keep up on what is interesting and new in the online marketing world.
My assistant uses Twitter for professional development. She subscribes to the twitter feeds of the people she wants to learn from. One of my clients uses Twitter almost exclusively to retweet posts by her JV partners.
It is hard to know which platforms work the best. I ran across this great chart on cmo.com which gives a great summary of what tool is best used for what purpose. Click on the picture to get a downloadable pdf chart.
I read over the chart — and find the assessment pretty much spot on. What is your most successful social media platform and how are you using it?
