TMIM Day 1: Success is a Matter of Perspective
Here's my day one report from Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Transformation Contest.
Success is all a matter of perspective. My goals for the transformation contest were essentially to lose some body fat, increase my Tame the Internet Monster mailing list and carve out some solid time during the day to not be working or on the computer. I started out the day full of hope, did my weight training, planned out my activities, was ALL ready to go… and then life happened
I ended up getting pulled into a major project with a tight deadline for my whirlwind client. A real Internet Monster Tamer would have set some stronger boundaries and just said no — but I'm not there (yet). I ended up working well into the night to get the sales letter done (only to find out in the morning that she gave me the wrong one… but that's another story). Since, I didn't work on my list and I worked all night, I could say that the day was a bomb as far as the challenge goes (and then give up completely)… but it wasn't.
Despite getting caught up in my own personal client-tornado, I ate well, I spent some good time with my daughter and I got my netbook (did I mention my main computer is in the shop…making this more time consuming) to a functional state for doing my work (more on that in a future post…). So, I'm counting the day as a success (which makes it easier to have future successes…) — but I'm also trying to pinpoint what didn't go so well so that I can tweak and make it better. The lesson for me in this is to communicate with your clients (especially the whirlwind ones) and let them know what you can do and what you can't. It is great to be able to help — but at some point you just can't.
How does life get in the way of taming YOUR internet monster?

Ahhh great post and one that every single one of us WAH moms and dads have experienced at least once. "Life happens" for sure.
Good for you seeing the positive in the day and continuing to move forward with your goals in sight!
Keep up the great work!
I can so relate to how life can get in the way, even when we are 100% committed to our goals! Despite the roadblocks, you did eat healthy and spent time with your daughter; those are both huge wins!
