Gmail Adds Tasks
This past week Gmail finally added a to do list. If you track your todos in your email inbox and/or don't need a to do tracking system with lots of bells and whistles then Gmail tasks may be for you. Once enabled, the gmail task panel is a floating window which you can activate by clicking the tasks link underneath contacts. When you click the link, a window pops up that lists your tasks.
You can create unlimited lists for your tasks. For example, you could have one list for home another for work, etc. You can reoder the items on your list by simply dragging them and create outlines. However, you can't collapse your outlines or move tasks from list to list.
The place where gmail tasks really shines is (of course) its integration with Gmail. Once you have tasks enabled, you have the option of turning an e-mail into a task. This shows up on your task list as a link to a related e-mail under the task. This is a great feature if you are trying to keep you e-mail inbox clean.
To enable gmail tasks:
1. Click on the little green beaker at the top of your screen (gmail labs)
2. Enable Tasks
3. That's it — the tasks link should appear right below the contacts link on the left side of your Gmail menu.
